On Friday the Glenwood Caverns will start their summer season with an all day party of fun! Ride Glenwood stops just across the highway from the Cavern gondola so leave the car at home and ride for free! On Saturday take your favorite train lover to the Amtrak train station for a tour of the Glenwood Railroad Museum. Admission is a mere $1 for train lovers over the age of 12. When you’re done there is a slew of restaurants across the street for a delightful lunch. Choose from Jucy Lucy’s Steakhouse or Glenwood Brew Pub for just a couple of the local favorites. Heading up valley this weekend, get off the bus in Carbondale on Saturday for the Carbondale Saturday Market. Take the bus to the Carbondale Swimming Pool, walk two blocks East and take a left at 4th street to Crystal River Meats. This appears
to be the first farmer’s style market to hit the streets this season, it will be a great opportunity to get your chomps on some locally grown meat and support valley ranchers. Saturday evening at the Third Street Center offers up the closing night of the Annual Carbondale Kid’s Expo. You can reach the center by getting off the bus at the swimming pool, heading East until you hit third street and then walking about three blocks to the non-profit mecca.
Of course the big up valley news is that there is skiing this weekend! Indeed, it will be Memorial Day weekend and Ajax will be open for business! There will 25 runs open with a 71″ base.
